Battle of Evesham
The re-enactment of the Battle of Evesham is now an eagerly-anticipated annual event, and the attendance continues to grow - this year, there were nearly 17,000 visitors! The main event was of course the Battle, with more mounted knights and footsoldiers in authentic costumes than ever before. Wandering through the mediaeval tented village gave us a chance to see how life was lived then, and the friendly re-enactors were happy to answer any questions.
The Club was involved for the first time. We provided significant help with the car parking, collecting the entrance money and marshalling. The Rotary symbol was prominent on banners as the cars entered the parking area and on our hi-vis jackets. One note of hilarity was provided when two shiny red Ferraris turned up at the gate and the drivers refused to pay £5 on the grounds that it was too expensive...
