Evesham Community Festival 15 June 2019

Evesham Community Festival, 15 June

The weather leading up to the Festival was ominous, but on the day we only had a brief (if heavy) shower to interrupt the fun. We had a great selection of stalls - children's activities, charity stalls and opportunities to buy a variety of craft items. Raphael's provided excellent food and drink, and we were entertained by a dog show, the Avon brass band, and a non-stop music programme on the main stage.

First on were the female choir group, the Harvington Songbirds, and then we heard a selection of music from really talented local youngsters - rock, pop, vocal, and even a punk band. The penultimate act was the local duo Neon Creatures Acoustic. Finally, as a great surprise, Agnetha and Anni-Frid from ABBA flew in from Sweden and had everyone dancing.

The Rotary marquee had an impressive display of our activities, inclding the launch ofRotary in the Vale, which attracted a lot of interest.

Plenty of people came along, but we would certainly have attracted more if the weather had been more clement. Nontheless, this was a great event, one to remember, and a fitting way to end our 70th anniversary celebrations.
